Formation of the model for forecasting freight transportation volumes on the basis of artificial neural networks

Abstract

The main task of railway transport is timely meeting the needs of country's economy in transportation. In spite of the fact that recent years have seen a sharp decrease in the volume of transportation work, railway transport has retained its leading position in the overall transportation balance of freight traffic in Ukraine. Under current unstable and hard-to-predict economic, political and social conditions, railway transportation is the kind of transport that is in constant operation and is attractive to most cargo owners.
