Johan Galtung`s theory of structural violence and peaceful transformation of conflicts

Abstract

One of the well-known Norwegian sociologists with interesting life views and scientific concepts is Johan Galtung whose theoretical views are close to supporters of non-Marxist movement (among modern representatives of the latter we can mention I. Wallerstein, R. Cox, etc.). J. Galtung entered world science as an author of concepts of structural violence, positive and negative peace, peacekeeping journalism, conflict theory and its resolution. His research has made a significant contribution to the development of such an area of international political science as sociology of international relations.
