Urban rail transport is becoming an increasingly important element in the transport system of modern urban areas. The reason for this is primarily its functionality related to the large capacity of vehicles and the possibility of ensuring a high mobility of residents. Technical requirements for the certification process of light rail vehicles such as tramways differ between European Union Member States. The uniformity of these procedures is not required due to closed urban infrastructure, hence the requirements of the Technical Specifications of Interoperability (TSI) as in the railways do not apply. The vehicle certification process covers many aspects related to its impact on the surroundings of heavily urbanized urban areas. In this paper, an analysis of the possibilities of using non-standard test methods in the process of tramway certification was carried out.uk_UA
