Часто добре технічно підготовлені спортсмени програють за рахунок морального, психологічного втомлення. Вирішити цю проблему допомагає виявлення неофіційного лідера в команді та правильна установка тренера на даний момент. Постійний контакт тренера з неофіційним лідером команди полегшує тренеру керівництво волейболістами та сприяє реалізації його планів. Офіційне керівництво волейбольної команди виконує тренер-викладач.
