Естетика символізму у творах С. Колріджа

Abstract

UA: У статті розкрито художню своєрідність поезії С. Колріджа, виявлено специфіку символу як художнього прийому. Різноманітне використання символів є невід’ємною частиною художнього світу С. Колріджа. Авторська творчість С. Колріджа також нерозривно пов’язана з англійською літературною традицією. Продовжуючи традиції англійського романтизму, митець розробляє свій авторський варіант теми, ідеї, жанру, художнього прийому літературного тексту. Основним для творчого процесу С. Колріджа є уява, яка займає центральне місце в романтичній естетиці автора. Особливості творчої індивідуальності автора, такі як багатошаровість, багатовимірність змістовного простору творів, символічність образів яскраво проявилися в його творах «Сказання про Старого Мореплавця», «Кубла Хан», «Крістабель» і віршах. Специфіка поетичної спадщини С. Колріджа полягає в широкому використанні різних символів і образів, що обумовлено символічністю його поетичного мислення. Автор також розробив ідею злиття уяви і дотримувався вірності правді природи, що є одним з теоретичних досягнень С. Колріджа. Символ є специфічним засобом ставлення людини до світу, художнього втілення задуму. Творам художника властиві символи, пов’язані з природою, а саме образи Місяця і Сонця, птахів і дерев, води і змій. У творчості митця простежується переплетення словесних, живописних можливостей поетичної мови з метою відображення почуттів, настроїв, душевних станів людини. Основа художньої свідомості автора складається з трансцендентального уявлення про створення світу, відчуття духовної спорідненості Бога, природи й людини. Проведений аналіз показав, що численні «водні» образи займають значне місце у творчості С. Колріджа, створюючи самобутню картину світу та образний ряд лірики. Згідно з художньою концепцією С. Колріджа процес пізнання світу відбувається за допомогою самопізнання суб’єкта, де істина є кінцевою метою.

EN: The article reveals the artistic originality of S. Coleridge’s poetry and highlights the specificity of symbols as an artistic technique. The diverse use of symbols is an integral part of S. Coleridge’s artistic world. S. Coleridge’s creative work is also inextricably linked to the English literary tradition. Continuing the traditions of English Romanticism, the artist develops his own version of the theme, idea, genre, and artistic technique of the literary text. The main element of S. Coleridge’s creative process is imagination, which occupies a central place in the author’s Romantic aesthetics. The distinctive features of the author’s creative individuality, such as the multi-layered, multidimensional nature of his works and the symbolism of his images, are clearly evident in his works “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner,” “Kubla Khan,” “Christabel,” and his poems. The specificity of Coleridge’s poetic legacy lies in his extensive use of various symbols and images, which is due to the symbolism of his poetic thinking. The author also developed the idea of merging imagination and adhering to the truth of nature, which is one of Coleridge’s theoretical achievements. A symbol is a specific means of a person’s attitude to the world, an artistic embodiment of an idea. The artist’s works are characterized by symbols associated with nature, namely images of the Moon and the Sun, birds and trees, water and snakes. The artist’s work reveals an intertwining of verbal and pictorial possibilities of poetic language with the aim of reflecting human feelings, moods, and states of mind. The basis of the author’s artistic consciousness consists of a transcendental view of the creation of the world, a sense of spiritual kinship between God, nature, and man. The analysis showed that numerous “water” images occupy a significant place in S. Coleridge’s work, creating a unique picture of the world and a series of lyrical images. According to S. Coleridge’s artistic concept, the process of cognition of the world occurs through self-knowledge of the subject, where truth is the ultimate goal.
