EN: The rapid digitalization of higher education intensifies the need for a unified digital educational environment capable of combining practical training, self-directed learning, and knowledge assessment within a single space. Existing solutions — learning management systems (Moodle, Canvas), services such as Google Classroom, and individual virtual laboratories and STEM platforms — address local tasks but do not form a coherent, interconnected ecosystem for practice-oriented professional training. The aim of the study is to provide a pedagogical rationale for, and to present the architecture, design principles, and practical implementation of, VirtLab as a modular environment that integrates virtual laboratories, e-manuals, multimedia resources (Smart Video, Smart Audio), and interactive educational resources (simulators, case studies, testing), together with an electronic library, reference modules, and elements of AI-based automated consultation. The pedagogical foundation of the model draws on constructivism, socio-constructivism, competency-based and learner-centered approaches, as well as the principles of active, problem-based, projectbased, and blended learning within STEM education. The scientific novelty lies in the following: an original model of a unified modular principle for structuring heterogeneous digital educational resources within a single ecosystem is proposed, together with a universal template for an e-learning module that allows the same educational content to be presented in multiple formats. The practical implementation is represented by the main VirtLab UkrDUZT portal (virtlab.kart.edu.ua), the DemoLab demonstration educational showroom, and a series of virtual laboratories and e-manuals covering several departments and faculties of the university. The development has been reviewed and approved at a department meeting and recommended for use in the educational process; the concept has been presented to other higher education institutions, which expressed interest in further cooperation. The limitations of the current approbation are outlined (a limited sample of departments, the absence of long-term monitoring of learning outcomes), along with prospects for the ecosystem's development in the areas of artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, a digital campus, and an inter-university network of laboratories, which forms the basis for further scholarly publications and grant initiatives.
