UA: У статті, спираючись на праці провідних вчених у галузі економіки, досліджено сутність поняття «інновація» та «інноваційна діяльність», виділені головні принципи інноваційної діяльності та досліджені сучасні теорії інноваційного розвитку.Проаналізовані основні напрямки та практичні результати впровадження інновацій у залізничному комплексі України, визначено чинники, що гальмують інноваційні процеси у транспортній галузі. EN: In the article, based on the work of the leading scientists in the field of economics, the essence of the concept of "innovation" and "innovation activity", the main principles of innovation activity and the modern theories of innovation development are researched. The innovative development of a modern enterprise is a key element in ensuring its competitiveness in a changing and extremely rigid external environment. The conditions of the environment constantly change, respectively, the transformation of innovation activity and the emerging theories of innovation development.The main directions and practical results of implementation of innovations in the railway complex of Ukraine are analyzed, factors which hinder innovative processes in the transport industry are determined. The study of existing theories of innovation development showed that in the world there were such types of: the theory of cyclic crises, the theory of "long waves", the theory of innovative development, the theory of S. Kuznets, the neoclassical theory of innovations, the concept of the formation of technological systems and the diffusion of innovations, the theory of technological breakdown, the theory of intellectual technology, the theory of innovation economics and entrepreneurship society, socio-psychological model , theory of convergence of innovation activity, theory of convergence of innovation activity.
